HOMEGROWN HEAD COACH APPOINTED
Gerrard Gets the Green Light.

Mark Gerrard has been appointed to the position of Head Coach of Warringah Rugby Club for the 2019 Season. After a rigorous recruitment process, Gerrard who has won caps for the Wallabies, Brumbies, Waratahs and of course the Rats, was selected as the most suitable candidate for the role.

Warringah's Director of Rugby Ben Adams said, "We cast a wide net and advertised this position locally and abroad to ensure we had the best possible candidates. Our criteria not only included experience and ability, but also cultural fit and alignment with our long-term view as a strong community club focusing on development, growth and engagement of players, coaches and staff."

Warringah President, Phillip Parsons was happy with the recruitment panel's recommendation and the club board's endorsement and added, "Mark has performed at the highest level and we are looking forward to the year ahead, where Mark will be able to combine his understanding of the game and his passion for the Warringah rugby community into the Head Coach role."

Mark will be supported in the role by a group of coaching development consultants and technical specialists, including Joe Barakat who most recently was the Forwards and Attacking Breakdown Coach for the Melbourne Rebels and Western Force, and held coaching roles in both European and Japanese Top Leagues.

The rapid development of Warringah's Rugby Program has also warranted the creation of a new role that will continue to drive the club’s success across all grades. Daniel Tilley will take up the role of Athletic Performance Director, working closely with Mark to ensure the Rats' programmes are delivering the highest possible results.

Mark is excited about the challenge ahead and the club wishes him, Daniel and the team all the best in their new roles and look forward to supporting them in delivering further success for the Rats on and off the paddock.
