Players from Under 10 to Under 18 play modified versions of the game with Under 10 to Under 12 continuing to follow the ARU’s TryRugby Kids Pathway. The competition is run by Sydney Junior Rugby Union with games being played on either Friday night or on Sunday from around April to August.

Beyond the Pathway

In Australia all 13 – 18 year olds play to modified laws designed to make the game safer and more enjoyable. These Australian U19 Law Variations continue the progression from the Kids Pathway (U6 – U12) through to junior representative opportunities at local club, school and regional levels.

In this age range the priority is to provide the players with opportunities to learn by trying it for themselves and the stages through this age range are stepped to allow for progressive development of every individual.

From U13 – U18 rugby games are intended to further develop the individual skills, fitness and teamwork of all players in accordance with their age and understanding of the game.
