Our Under 12 team travelled to the edge of the metropolitan zone to play Blue Mountains at home for a place in the Grand Final. Blue Mountains are a very good side who have already beaten us twice this year in regular games and they deserved to be favourites.

On previous occasions we have been guilty of a slow start against them however this time we started strongly and scored first really giving the boys a lift. Blue Mountains struck back pretty quickly with a strong try but were unable to convert, the remainder of the first half was an intense arm wrestle as each team believed they could win. We went to half time leading 7-5 but were overrun early in the second half to go down 12-7, we scored again on the back of outstanding team play with one of our wingers going over in the corner beating several tackles following a full backline run.

Mountains again scored relatively quickly to nose in front and then started to run the clock down, the weather was hot and both sides were tiring but with a gutsy turnover midfield the boys had one last crack at the Mountains line to be pushed into touch. From the lineout we stole the ball and drove over the line to record the winning try with seconds to spare. There was quite a nervous gap before the referee awarded the try following consultation with the touch judge.

A true team effort with no one player standing out above the rest. A fantastic effort from the boys who now enjoy a week off before we play the winner of Blue Mountains and North Rocks this weekend.
