WHAT A CAREER
1ST GRADE CAPTAIN HAMISH ANGUS RETIRES

It is with a degree of sadness that Warringah Rugby Club must notify our wonderful supporters and community that our 2019 1st Grade Captain, Hamish Angus, has announced that he will be retiring after Saturday’s Intrust Shute Shield Grand Final against Sydney University.

Hamish, who plays at 5/8th and wears the number 10, has been a fundamental figure at the Warringah Rats, playing in 145 1st Grade games and a total of 161 Grade games with the Club, appeared in 3 Shute Shield Grand Finals, including the 2017 Shute Shield Premiership winning team and has been awarded the Ken Catchpole Medal an incredible 3-times! Hamish is a wonderful role model on and off the field showcasing the Warringah Rugby Club’s core values of culture, passion, great sportsmanship and a deep love the game of Rugby.

Warringah Rugby Club President, Phillip Parsons says “I often talk about the shoulders the Rats stand on as we push through continually to higher success. Hamish has been those shoulders for many years. He has been a leader on and off the paddock and provided me personally with guidance and advice beyond his years as we have grown and continue to grow the Rats on and off the paddock. I will leave the accolades on his amazing rugby career to those that have and do play with him this weekend for his last game.

His off-field commitment to the club through his role as player director, coach selection panels and guidance are the things I am incredibly grateful for. I do also suspect he is a Rats President in waiting, he would get my vote.

Well done Hamish on a wonderful career and thank you for your service to our community.

Warringah Rugby Club not only thanks Hamish Angus for his myriad of contributions to the Club but wishes Hamish and the entire Warringah Rats 1st Grade side all the very best in what will be a Shute Shield Grand Final for the ages.
